Is Ryobi a Chinese company?
Ryobi Limited (リョービ株式会社, Ryōbi Kabushiki-gaisha, Japanese: [ɾʲoːꜜbi]; English: /raɪˈoʊbi/ or /riˈoʊbi/) is a Japanese manufacturer of components for automobiles, electronics, and telecommunications industries. It also sells printing equipment, power tools, and builders' hardware.
Since 1996, the Ryobi brand in America has operated as a subsidiary of Techtronic Industries (TTI), a Hong Kong company founded in 1985. Ryobi manufactures both corded and cordless power tools with 2021 debuting the ONE+ HP brushless tools.
Ryobi is a Japanese manufacturing company that produces a wide variety of products, including power tools, printers, and automotive components. The company has assembly plants in Mexico and the Czech Republic, and employs over 35,000 people worldwide.
Ryobi and Milwaukee are both owned by Hong Kong based manufacturing company Techtronic Industries. Although they share the same parent company, Ryobi and Milwaukee are not the same; in fact, their positioning in the market is very different.
Q: Are Ryobi tools made in the USA? Ryobi tools are products of Techtronic Industries, with their manufacturing facility in China, headquartered in Hong Kong. There are various manufacturing plants owned by Ryobi, including one in Indiana, US.
Brands like Ryobi, Dirt Devil, Oreck, Milwaukee Electric and Hoover, for example, are owned by Techtronic Industries based out of Hong Kong. The Connecticut-based Stanley Black & Decker owns many brands beyond its name, including Lenox, Craftsman, Irwin Tools, DeWALT and CribMaster.
Ryobi tools are worth buying if you're looking for something lightweight, affordable, and with a decent warranty. While potentially not suitable for professionals, they make great personal tools for small-scale projects. Also, the interchangeable batteries on the tools are incredibly convenient.
Ryobi is Home Depot's cheapest line of tools; no professional is likely to use them, because they don't perform well. Generally speaking, they have less power than the equivalent pro grade machine, and likely aren't as durable.
Techtronic Industries (TTI)
TTI owns the Ryobi power tools and accessories division in the USA, North America, the UK, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, but Ryobi is also an independent company with separate product lines in some other parts of the world.
Makita Corporation (株式会社マキタ, kabushiki gaisha Makita) (TYO: 6586) is a Japanese manufacturer of power tools. Founded on March 21, 1915, it is based in Anjō, Japan and operates factories in Brazil, China, Japan, Mexico, Romania, the United Kingdom, Germany, United Arab Emirates, Thailand and the United States.
Is Ryobi owned by Home Depot?
Home Depot negotiated with Ryobi to get exclusive access to its line of high-quality tools, but Home Depot doesn't own the brand or make the tools. Walmart has started to carry the brand in limited stores, but Home Depot remains the most reliable place to find Ryobi tools.
Made in the USA With Global Materials | DEWALT.

Milwaukee Tool has manufactured products in the USA since 1924, so they've got a rich American history.
DeWalt Vs Milwaukee: Manufacturing
Most of the products of the brand come with the label “Made in USA with global materials”. DeWalt also manufactures from the facilities of its parent company Stanley Black & Decker.
One, a whole bunch of the top power tool brands — including DeWalt, Black & Decker, Craftsman, Porter-Cable and more — are all owned by the same company, Stanley Black & Decker.

When we do hands-on field testing we find that while RYOBI underperforms some of the top brands, they offer an incredible value. Pros appreciate tools like the Ryobi 18V brushless impact driver. It provides plenty of power for most tasks and costs just $99 for the bare tool.
Milwaukee Tool which is foreign-owned but remains headquartered in Milwaukee, has invested $47 million into U.S. operations in the last 5 years and is continuing to grow their domestic production at their three manufacturing facilities located in Greenwood, MS, Jackson, MS, and Mukwonago, WI .

The Milwaukee Badaptor allows customers to use their existing 18V Milwaukee batteries with the extensive range of Ryobi One+ tools. Milwaukee batteries cannot be charged in a Ryobi charger using the Badaptor.
Are DeWalt and Ryobi batteries interchangeable?
What if you could get your DeWalt battery to fit Ryobi tools? Right now, battery ports on cordless power tools are not universal. So that expensive battery can't power a tool that isn't DeWalt. With a Badaptor, you can convert your 18-20V DeWalt battery to work with the entire range of Ryobi One+ tools.
The most common problem is the Ryobi battery gets stuck in sleep mode. This can be fixed by 'mini-charges' – slot the defective battery into the charger for a few seconds, then remove before the lights flash. Repeat (up to 30 min) until it has enough charge to 'revive' itself. That's not the only fix though.
Techtronic Industries Co Ltd (TTI) As it turns out, TTI owns Milwaukee Tool and a host of other power tool companies. It also licenses the RIDGID* and RYOBI names for cordless power tools (Emerson owns RIDGID). TTI stands for Techtronic Industries Company Limited (TTI Group).
To sum it all up, the bare minimum that most manufacturers expect from their batteries is around 3 years or 1,000 charging cycles (whichever is less).
